David Gosset

Born in 1970 in Paris, David Gosset is the chairman of DG2CI, a consulting and communication firm. A board member of several European companies and institutions with involvement in education, management, and industry, he advises companies on international development. Fluent in French, English, and Chinese, Gosset lectured at Johns Hopkins University in Washington D.C., for the top French institution Ecole Nationale d’Administration (ENA), and for large multinational corporations at the top of the Fortune 500 list. In 2002, with the objective of deepening exchanges between Europe and China, he established the Europe-China Forum. In 2015, he created the New Silk Road Initiative, which aims to study and support the “One Belt, One Road” strategy. In 2021, he established the China-Europe-America Global Initiative. The late French President Jacques Chirac (1932-2019) wrote that the Europe-China Forum established by David Gosset has, since 2002, been “a unique platform for exchanges between European and Chinese civilizations”. On December 31, 2014, David Gosset became a Knight of the Legion of Honour (Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur) via a decree signed by the President of the French Republic François Hollande. Gosset has also been awarded the “Cross of the Civil Order” by then King of Spain, Juan Carlos I, for his efforts to increase mutual understanding between Spain and China. In June 2021, following the proposition of the President of the Council of Minis- ters of the Italian Republic, Italian President Sergio Mattarella conferred on David Gosset the honor of Knight in the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic - Cavaliere Ordine al Merito della Repubblica Italiana. A Sinologist, Professor Gosset wrote extensively on China’s transformation and its global impact. His comments have been published in the International New York Times – formerly International Herald Tribune –, the Huffington Post, Forbes, and major Asian and Chinese print media outlets. Gosset commented for the China Global Television Network (CGTN, formerly CCTV), Bloomberg TV, CNN, Russia TV, France 24, Phoenix TV, and other televised media outlets. His analyses have also been published by the Economist Intelligence Unit. In 2018, he published Limited Views on the Chinese Renaissance, a book that he presented at the Frankfurt Book Fair. Both his TED Talk and Talks at Google, the latter held in October 2019, have received widespread attention. In 2022, David Gosset completed the triptych China and the World. Volume 1 on international relations was published in 2020, volume 2 on business in 2021, volume 3 on culture and arts in 2022. As the editor of China and the World, David Gosset worked with 60 high-profile personalities across continents to produce truly unique knowledge on 21st-century China and the way it impacts our world. David Gosset is also the creator of the Inspiring series, a collection of books aiming to present China to the world in an innovative manner. He edited Inspiring Tianjin (2020), Inspiring Shanxi (2023), Inspiring Shanghai (2024), and Inspiring Greater Bay Area China (2024).
